Summer berries & cherries
Manuela P. Michieli
Students will use different kinds of clay for creating this collection of cakes and will receive all the information needed to safely manage the different clays used. Each item has been chosen carefully mainly for the one or more techniques used to create it, and both beginners and advanced students may enjoy these workshops.
Students will be working on:
- A sliced cheesecake - where texturing polymer clay and combining it with other kinds of clay are involved.
- A cherry crust pie - this will be used to show how to get the baked effect. For this cake, we will use a real miniature baking pan created by the IGMA Artisan Silvia Cucchi at my request.
- A heart-shaped biscuit cake - this involves useful tips about creating many equal shapes when needed.
- A tiny metal can - made by thin metal foil, which is a good polymer clay friend; we will see why.
- A couple of tiny paper baskets.
- And of course berries: strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and cherries.
To complete the scene, the table will be part of the workshop, and students will be free to assemble it or to keep it unassembled for easy travelling, just in case they get there by plane.
Materials fee: €30,- (this includes two metal pie pans by IGMA Artisan SIlvia Cucchi)

French Transitional Louis XV – XVI Bureau cA. 1774
Geoff Wonnacott
Combining the elegant curves of typical Louis XV furniture and the simpler lines of the Louis XVI style, this attractive bureau will easily fit into most collections.
From a prepared cutting list of timber, students will construct and veneer the desk to the working drawing. The slight cabriole legs will be shaped, drawers will be made, and parquetry applied to the fronts before cross-banding.
The superstructure is centred by a burr galleried top. It has curved shelves and a pull-out leather writing surface where letters were carefully written (letters are pieces of paper people used to write on in that period, commonly known as e-mail today). Brass mounts, traditional pierced handles and key plates finish the piece with style.

Hydrangeas in a vase
Bonaqua Lam
In this 3-day class, you will learn how to use air-dry clay to make a bunch of hydrangeas with different stages in 1:12.
Part 1: About the clay
- Mixing clay: Learn how to mix different air-dry clays together.
- Keeping Clay Fresh: Air-dry clay dries fast! Learn how to store your clay properly so it stays soft while you work and lasts a very long time.
Part 2: Making the flowers
- Making the Stem: Learn how to cover a thin wire with clay to make a smooth flower stem.
- Making Flower Buds and Sepals: Learn how to quickly make the flower buds and tiny sepals before the air-dry clay hardens.
- The Big Assembly: Learn how to arrange and glue all the tiny flowers together into a perfect round ball.
- Making the leaves: Learn how to make the leaves using the molds made by myself and attach them to the stems.
- Painting the Cluster and leaves: Learn how to paint realistic colour changes (like blues, pinks, or greens) to make the whole bunch look alive.
The number of flowers created will depend on the individual student's pace.

A4
silver bachelor’s teapot with ebony handle ca.1760, George II
Jens Torp
In this three-day hands-on class, you will create a charming small silver bachelor’s teapot, complete with a beautiful ebony handle.
The body of the teapot will be turned in silver on the lathe, introducing you to the techniques and precision involved in forming small-scale hollowware. Along the way, we will use a variety of traditional silversmithing skills, including sawing, filing, shaping, and soldering, to bring the teapot together and refine its details.
Once the teapot is complete, we will prepare the surface for its final finish using fine sandpaper and rubber polishing wheels. The class will conclude with the finishing polish, revealing the lustre and character of the silver and bringing your miniature teapot to life.
This class offers a wonderful opportunity to explore traditional silversmithing techniques on a small and rewarding project, while creating a unique piece to take home and treasure.
Materials fee: €85,-

Leather bound
Pop-up book
“A Christmas Carol”
Tine Krijnen
In this class, you will create a beautiful nine-scene pop-up book, “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, featuring a variety of sliding mechanisms and intricate pop-up effects.
Although the finished book may look wonderfully complex, I will guide you through each step of the process. Clear written instructions with detailed photographs, together with instructional videos demonstrating the cutting and folding techniques, will support you throughout the class.
After a general introduction to the book and its mechanisms, you will begin with the first scene. For each scene, you will practise the cutting and folding techniques on three practice pages. Once you feel confident with the process, you will move on to creating the actual page of your book. The instructional videos, available to watch on screen as you work, provide an especially helpful reference for the more intricate steps.
Once all nine scenes are completed, the pages will be sewn and the book bound in leather. The finished book will close with elegant straps wrapped around a small piece of dark horn, giving it a beautiful and distinctive final detail.
All skill levels. Cutting out the small pop-up parts of the paper requires good hand-eye coordination.
Materials fee: €45 (or 360 dkk)
A6
kitchen in a cabinet
Anita Heijmenberg
In this class, you will create this delightful “Kitchen in a Cabinet”, a tiny kitchen housed inside a wooden cabinet.
Both the cabinet and the kitchen will be made from wood. The cabinet doors can be opened and closed, revealing the little kitchen inside and creating the perfect setting for a collection of miniature details and accessories.
You will receive prepared materials to build the cabinet and kitchen according to the design provided. While the structure will follow the drawing, there is plenty of room for your own creativity: you can choose the colours for both the kitchen and the cabinet to give your kitchen its own unique character, and in the upper right section, you can choose between pot racks or an overhead cupboard.
And then comes the most delightful part: bringing the kitchen to life. To help you begin filling your miniature kitchen, you will also receive several small DIY projects, each offering the opportunity to create charming kitchen accessories. Once it is filled with tiny accessories and personal details, the cabinet truly becomes a miniature world of its own.
I look forward to welcoming you to my class.
