B-CLASSES - 2 DAYS
Below are the B-classes for Miniature in Tune 2026. These are 2-day classes held on Thursday and Friday.
The A-classes, which are 3-day classes taking place from Monday to Wednesday, can be found here.

B1
fine skein willow basketry
Esmé Hofman
Exquisite willow skeinwork is applied in the little baskets found in antique dollshouses. The long history of this technique becomes obvious when we view the dollshouses from the 18th century found at, for instance, Het Haags Gemeentemuseum or Het Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. Almost all baskets found there are made from fine willow skeins. In the class, we will focus on a variation of round baskets. Participants will learn the process of making willow skeins and weave a variation of round baskets.
Everyone works at their own pace, which means the number of baskets participants can make will vary. In both the 2-day and 3-day workshops, we start with a round coaster to get acquainted with the various steps of weaving with willow skeins. After this, participants in the 2-day class can make a (low) round basket and/or a flower-picking basket.
I will bring both prepared and unshaven material. We work with natural colours.
I will bring all tools and wooden molds. Participants can use these during the workshop.
Materials fee: €15,- / €25,-
B2
silver mirror
Jens Torp
In this class, the student will be making a photo frame consisting of pear wood and sterling silver. There will be a choice of at least two designs.
The student will be taught to drill, saw, pierce, file and solder. They will also learn to bend and form a round wire for the ‘stay’.
Finally, the silver will be polished and the pear wood varnished.
Materials fee: €25,-
B3
fruit colours
Manuela P. Michieli
In these 2 days, the focus will be mainly on modelling and colouring/tinting polymer clay to create miniature fruit items.
For completeness, information will be given on how to safely handle, store and cure the clay.
In all my workshops, each object is carefully chosen to explain one or more techniques. Students will work on:
How to preserve translucency in tinting polymer clay, how to get the flexibility that grants unbreakable miniatures, how to add shades, how to safely mix/merge polymer clay with other materials when special effects are needed, and how to give scrap clay a new life.
To complete the composition, students will create an oval basket, and I will teach them my personal technique to give it the final touches.
The topics explored in the workshop are suitable for both beginners and those who wish to deepen their knowledge about using polymer clay to create miniature food.

17th-century embroidered Jacket
ela Kiefhaber
In the early 17th century, during the reign of James I, embroidered jackets were fashionable garments for wealthy women and a canvas for some of the most elaborate domestic embroidery ever produced. The iconic Margaret Layton jacket, now housed in the V&A Museum in London, is a stunning example of Jacobean embroidery – featuring intricate scrolling vines, fantastical flowers and delicate insects stitched in vibrant silks and gleaming metal threads.
In this 12-hour class, students will create a miniature scale version of this exquisite embroidered jacket, designed for 1:12 scale. The focus will be on capturing the rich detail, bold colours and elegant curves of Jacobean design in fine miniature embroidery suitable for doll house clothing, museum displays or historical miniature collections.
Students will learn the following techniques:
- Historical overview of Jacobean embroidery motifs
- Pattern transfer and colour planning
- Using chain stitch to create the elements of the embroidery
- Use of Metallic and silk threads
- Miniature Garment embellishment
- Final assembly
All materials will be provided, including silk fabrics, silk and metallic threads and reference images.
This class is perfect for needle workers interested in historical textiles, miniature costuming or those who want to dive into the world of 17th-century embroidery with a focus on beauty and a love for fine detail.

B5
old European house facade in 1:24 scale
erik Goddard
We will build an old European house facade in 1:24 scale featuring a main wall with windows, a staircase with railing, and a door on top of a cobblestone street base. You will learn how to use foam to make stones and concrete; spackle/joint compound/polyfilla for plaster; as well as how to use paints and finishes to create ageing and weathering. There will also be a lantern outside the door that will light up. The build will take only part of the class time, so we can focus on ageing and weathering techniques. The prototype shown is an example, and you have the flexibility to select your preferences. This diorama will disassemble for easier packing. (Disclosure: some parts will be pre-built to save time.) Approximate dimensions: about 20cm high, 15 cm wide and 12 cm deep.
Materials fee: €35,-
B6
sculpting
a boy or a girl
timea p. vajonne
In this class, we will sculpt a 1:12 scale little boy or a girl from scratch (your choice).
Learning to make the armature from wire, sculpting the face,
torso, hands/legs and shoes using polymer clay.
We will paint him/her using heat-set paint, adding lifelike colouring and shading to his/her face, torso and hands.
Then we will get him/her ready to be dressed using yarn to make his/her body. You can dress him/her up in your own time
at home. If we have time, we will create his/her hair, using mohair.
This workshop welcomes newcomers to polymer clay and
those who want to develop their skills.
