Miniature in tune
where creativity meets craftsmanship
TEACHERS MiT 2026
-
Just like every year, we have six exceptional teachers coming to Tune.
Our teachers bring with them a wealth of experience and numerous accolades in the miniature field. This combination of expertise and accomplishment promises to be both inspiring and enriching for all attendees. -
Each teacher will be teaching two classes: one three-day class and one two-day class. This will give students who enrol in their classes ample opportunity to thoroughly learn, explore, and extract valuable information on their favourite miniature subjects.
-
Some of our teachers will bring a selection of their exquisite handmade pieces, available for purchase during our exclusive Sales Night.
Join us at Miniature in Tune for an unforgettable experience filled with creativity, inspiration, learning and beautiful miniatures. See you there!

As a professional basketmaker, weaving miniature basketry is one of the activities I carry out in my studio. In recent years, I have made miniatures for museums and other miniaturists. My main focus is on the basketry found in antique dollhouses, but I also work extensively on commission.
As a traditionally trained basketry designer, I combine artisanal craftsmanship with contemporary forms and materials. My background lies in fine skeinwork, an extremely refined technique I studied at the German vocational school for basketry. This technique, which has an almost textile-like quality, allows me to create unique objects – ranging from functional utensils to sculptural forms.
In my work, I explore the boundaries of the basketry craft. I use natural materials such as willow, bark, and leaves, but also unexpected elements such as parchment, plastic, or thread. This results in objects that are both rooted in tradition and open to innovation. For me, the craft is not an end in itself, but a means of storytelling and exploring new forms.

My practice moves at the intersection of craft, design, and visual art. I work independently, but also on commission or in collaboration with designers, museums, and other artists. What drives me is the connection between old techniques and new ideas – and the question of how basketry today can tell a contemporary, meaningful story.

Manuela P. Michieli, from Italy, has been creating miniatures for dollhouses since 1985. She first approached this form of static modelling by combining the knowledge gained during several trips to London with her hands-on experience in building scale models for movies, television, and theme parks.
For many years, she has exhibited at leading international miniature fairs as 'Minimadeinitaly', including the renowned Kensington Dollshouse Festival, Tom Bishop Chicago International Show, Philadelphia Miniaturia, various European shows and of course Miniaturitalia since its beginning twenty years ago.
Her passion for experimenting with different materials, combined with a love of sharing knowledge, has led her to teach numerous workshops and give live demonstrations both in Italy and abroad.
She has been a Fimo® demonstrator for Staedtler Italia and has collaborated with various companies specialising in creative materials.

In addition to writing step-by-step tutorials for sector magazines, she has worked with primary schools on STEM projects involving miniatures as an educational tool. Today, just as when her journey began, the same boundless curiosity and excitement to explore how materials from the world of modelling and creative DIY can be reimagined within the delicate universe of dollhouses continues to drive her.
She still attends international miniature shows, and whenever possible, she enjoys teaching and collaborating exclusively with professional, high-end businesses that produce top-quality materials. You may see her miniatures both on her website www.manuelamichieli.com but mostly on Instagram as @minimadeinitaly_

I use mixed media and sculptural freestyle to create two main types of miniature work: scenes that evoke faraway places, imagined timelines, and impossible situations; and houses/scale models/architecture.
For me, a successful vignette or diorama should tell a story. Some narrative should emerge from the object. I am inspired by experiences I see when out and about in life, or when browsing through images, surfing house listings, or just thinking about life--especially houses, doors, windows, and people interacting within them. In particular, I am drawn to imperfection: rust, aged wood, cracked plaster, broken bricks.
If something speaks to me, I will think about the overall size, shape and medium, then begin to create an expression of the object. More than likely, I will stray from the original source or even come up with something entirely new, unless it's a specific request from a customer.

If I am building a framed "flat" piece, I will think more in 2D terms and use forced perspective or keep the focus on something flat, like a door, wall, or window.
For the models with interiors or internal views, I think more in 3D terms and use wood, foam, air-drying clay or other material to build out the shape, keeping in mind internal details like wiring, battery compartments, windows, etc. For the finishing touches, I use a range of paints, stains, finishes and chemical compounds, natural materials, wood, clay, glass or other things as needed.

I am a Hungarian living in the UK with my husband and our 3 cats since 2005. I discovered the miniature world 13 years ago, and I was hooked straight away. I got my first clay from my husband as a Christmas present and started sculpting little people from scratch.
My dolls are 1:12 scale, Unique characters inspired by everyday life.
My first exhibition was in London in 2016, at the Kensington Dollshouse Festival. In 2021, I became an IGMA Artisan.
I am looking forward to showing and teaching my knowledge in Tune again, and I hope we will have a great time together in the class in Denmark!
